Shannon Corbitt, Managing Member and Owner of Corbitt Power & Light LLC began his journey in the electrical utility industry at an early age. As Shannon was attending Albertville High School, he went through a work program with Municipal Utilities Board in Albertville, AL and after graduating high school, Shannon attended Snead State Community College and continued the work program on a part time basis.
After graduating from Snead State Community College, Shannon obtained a full-time job with Municipal Utilities Board. After hours he started a tree-trimming and electrical lighting installation for parking lots and athletic fields.
In February 2007 Shannon decided to retire from Municipal Utilities Board and start his own electrical contractor business with 3 employees and himself. He had one bucket truck, one digger truck, and two pickup trucks.
Soon after going into business he received the Alabama Board for General Contractors license with an unlimited bid and a contract with Marshall-DeKalb Electric Cooperative (MDEC) for pole replacements on a 46KVA line. Shannon has kept an excellent working relationship with MDEC from 2009 unto the present year of 2020 working on power line construction with a team of twelve employees.
In 2010, Shannon purchased seven acres of land and built the current office/warehouse located at 2795 Alabama Highway 205, Albertville, AL.
In 2015, Shannon began a relationship with Arab Electric Cooperative for power line construction with one crew. Currently there are four crews with sixteen employees.
Corbitt Power & Light LLC currently has contracts on a quarterly basis with Electric Board of Guntersville, Sylacauga Utility Board, and Decatur Utilities and currently is in contract with APCO for storm restorations. In June 2020, Shannon will receive the Tennessee Board for General Contractor license to do storm restorations for the utilities in Tennessee.
Corbitt Power & Light LLC has traveled across the United States from the Midwest up to the Eastern Coast and along the Southern Coast.
Corbitt Power & Light LLC employ thirty-three field people and three mechanics with a long list of equipment including: 12 Bucket Trucks; 5 Diggers; 10 Pickups; 2 Back Yard Buckets; 2 Back Yard Diggers; 1 Track Digger; and 1 Rock Hole Drill.
